Key Outcomes

  • Identified that the soul of Isis is lost within the Underworld

The Big Plot Facts

  • The soul of Isis is trapped at the Maw of Oblivion which resides beyond The Labyrinth which can be accessed via the Veinous Stair.
  • Isis is a Mummy born from the perfected Spell of Life. The only true Mummy
  • Osiris was re-born from an imperfect Spell of Life and had to be killed by Isis.
  • Mummies go through a series of death and rebirth each time in a reincarnated mortal form which is re-united with their soul.
  • Where a Mummy’s soul goes during the death cycle is not known
  • Set is also immortal but knowledge seems to be unclear or divided as to his exact nature.

The Other Facts

  • Dakota travelled to an ancient monastery of learning to learn the history of Set, Osiris and Isis.
  • Dakota had his research interrupted by strange machines masquerading as men which he managed to elude
  • Red Claw communed with the spirits in the desert and made contact with the powerful Incarna, Sirius the Dog Star, and was informed Isis is likely in the land of the dead
  • Broken Claw began investigations in Cairo leading to the Toreador Vampire Angelique
  • The Followers of Set, a Vampire clan, have a power-base in Cairo.
  • The leader of the Followers of Set in Cairo was known as Kemet but he has had his throat ripped out by Midnight Shadow and is dead.
  • Numerous other Vampires also died in this incident
  • Redclaw demanded that a Sphynx provide them with a route into the Underworld, vexing it considerably.
  • While conducting the ritual using the Spell of Life fragment an unplanned connection was made due to Chernobog (as of yet unknown).
  • The ritual using the fragment of the Spell of Life was conducted in a pyramid which also lit up various ancient constructs
  • They undertook the journey into the Underworld via the ancient ferry of Ra.

Dramatis Personae

  • Angelique, a vampire of Clan Toreador and an adventurer of sorts with an interest in Egyptian history and myth. Rocks the geek chic and would be played by Rachel Weisz.
  • Sirius the Dog Star, who often appears like a scruffy labrador.

Metagame Observations

  • Due to letting the players start things the nature of FATE characters meant this whole session was essentially made up on the spot while dynamically pulling ‘set’ ideas in response to pro-active players. It was also the first sign the campaign might go longer.
  • It is incredibly easy to stat up scenes and conflicts on the fly even if you have to resort to the minimum of a single ‘rating’ and a stress track. Working with the fiction and the emulation, rather than the simulation, keeps such things stress free.
  • The biggest thing I learned here? When put on the spot to make things up let the players do it. Chances are it’s twice as awesome as what I’d have come up with (as I’m more a let the idea stew for a while person and much better at maybe ‘oomphing an idea’ presented with a myriad of prepared abstract ideas).
