Summary
Four very different changing breeds find their moon bridges unexpectantly placing themselves within the spirit realm insides of an asteroid that is rapidly approach a close ‘fly-by’ of Earth.
They soon find the asteroid hosts a vast swam of insectoid like spirits from the depths of the Deep Umbra including their queen that hangs in the roof of the chamber.
As they battle their way across the landscape to defeat the queen before the asteroid passes Earth and the horde lays waste to it they uncover that Ananasa, the supreme spirit of the Ananasis, the werespiders, is held by the creatures and it was her who pulled them into the realm.
They defeat the queen of the horde and rescue Ananasa, learning in the process that a vast darkness is approaching, which will block out Helios, bringing the Apophis, dark sun, the nuclear chaos, the shadow of Helios that exists at the centre of the Universe.
Key Outcomes
- Characters are informed of the oncoming darkness
- They learn the mythical fate of Ananasa the Queen of the Werespiders
- The characters are thrown together
The Big Plot Facts
- A vast darkness is approaching and this somehow born from The Nuclear Chaos, The Deep Dark, Apophis The Bringer of Chaos, The Shadow of Helios at the Centre of the Galaxy.
- The oncoming darkness known as The Dark Sun was seen as some sort of ‘dark field’ blotting out distant starts that will put Helios itself in shadow
- This is one of no doubt many apocalypses in these final days
- The Dark Sun has passed Gaia before way back in ancient times (Egyptian).
- It is believed individuals ‘survive’ from these days and one is Isis, the wife of Osiris, brother of Set and the grandchildren of Ra.
- Ananasa could not use her links to the pattern web to find Isis meaning she must be lost in the depths of the Tellurian (spirit world) somewhere.
The Other Facts
- Dakota has a strange ‘beetle’ that is some sort of Wyrm creature that he took from a pyramid
- Broken Fang accepted being the nominated heir of Wears The Crown, known as Where’s The Crown by his enemies, in accepting this he also potentially became fated to be the Silver Fang leader who would die averting an apocalypse.
- Chernobog is in some way tightly linked to Apophis The Bringer of Chaos, potentially one of his very powerful servants.
- The domain of Luna in the spirit world is The Summer Country and is a land of glorious, preternatural-like wilderness (I actually believe this is from the books!).
- Moon bridges allow fast travel between points in the real world and to domains within the spirit world. They manifest as pillars of moonlight and have engrams associated with their origin, destination and those travelling. In transit, they appear like ‘moonlight’ versions of the Thor Ragnorak Rainbow Bridge.
- The Weaver trapped The Wyrm during the Age of Reason (circa 1300’s) when the Order of Reason moved to protect humanity from supernatural creatures. Since then things have been imbalance and lead to now.
Dramatis Personae
- Ananasa, the supreme spirit and Queen of the Ananasi were spiders
Metagame Observations
- We turned a vast horde of minions from a conflict into a single overcome role as the fiction changed allowing for one of the characters to resolve it by using his aspect weapon to bring down an avalanche of rocks on the horde approaching up the mountain. This dynamic tuning of the dials was a..moment.
- Ananasa’s message to the characters was supposed to be her last message. The idea being she was so weakened by her exile across the deep Umbra and being held, prisoner. Due to the nature of FATE characters, her message was confirmation of what was half-learned already, plus the players seemed keen for her to live, she remained alive. She has become one of the powerful background figures.
